If we get out of there before our own troops mutiny...

I know that they've been told we'll have to be there in some capacity for a long time, but I imagine they are thinking that the turn-over date should severely curtail their combat situation.

The long, hard slog may be getting longer. The U.S. has long said that, although the plan itself is up in the air, the one certainty in the transfer of power in Iraq was the end-of-June date. Now, it turns out, even that's in jeopardy. Secretary of State Colin Powell yesterday testified to a congressional oversight panel that the increasing violence and "difficult security problem" in Iraq could delay plans to turn the reins over to Iraqis as scheduled for June 30. Powell's comments "follow similar hints by other U.S. and United Nations officials that the date may change. Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said last week that he would 'never say never' on altering the deadline and noted that the decision was ultimately up to President Bush."  Progress Report article

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
