WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Agriculture Department said on Monday the discovery of a "highly pathogenic" strain of bird flu in Texas was not linked to an outbreak in Asia.
There is "no epidemiological link between this situation and in Asia," Ron DeHaven, the USDA's chief veterinarian, told reporters. The Texas flock was infected with the H5N2 strain of bird flu, a different kind from the H5N1 that has swept across Asia in recent weeks and been blamed for the deaths of at least 22 people. |
Okay, which did you start wondering about first? What practical difference it makes whether or not this is linked to the Asian outbreak, or just how different H5N1 is from H5N2?
Yes, people, the animals are having their revenge.
....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
