Being booted as chairman of the Defense Policy Board wasn't enough. He's been too rabid and publicly corrupt even to have as a member. And that has to be pretty bad these days.
Don't think he's not still "advising", just because he doesn't get to go to the official meetings.
....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
