Okay, I can't move to France

You wingers will have to find me another place to go. France is beginning to sound like your kind of place.

An overwhelming majority of France's National Assembly has voted to ban religious emblems in state schools, a measure Paris wants to keep tensions between Muslim and Jewish minorities out of public classrooms.

Deputies voted 494 to 36 to ban Muslim headscarves, Jewish skullcaps and large Christian crosses from state schools and threaten pupils who insisted on wearing them with expulsion. Muslims complain the law targets them and is discriminatory.

This was the first reading of the bill, which must go to the Senate and then back to the National Assembly for final approval in mid-March, which should now be only a formality.

Before the vote, Education Minister Luc Ferry said there had been a "spectacular rise in racism and anti-Semitism in the last three years" and the ban would help to keep classes from dividing up into "militant religious communities."

How ridiculous. People are going to know who's who. And if they don't, they're going to make it a point to find out. It's the existence of religions that creates the tension and division, not the symbols of those religions.

Tiny brains and religion. Dangerous (to borrow His Slowliness the Dope's second favorite word on Sunday) combination.

If you are capable of thinking, please do.

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
