We just keep our people grounded in a little different way.
Tens of thousands of Iraqis have been trapped inside their own country since the occupation of Iraq last year because of an inoperative immigration department....Only those holding valid passports issued before the invasion are able to travel.
...The authorities in Iraq have linked the resumption of passport issuing to the installation of a new Iraqi government, but the question remains whether or not Iraqis will be willing - and able - to wait that long to get their basic rights. article
For now anyway we do it differently.
I just recently got a passport for the first time in my life. Thought it might come in handy after November 2004. Come to think of it, though, I'm not at all sure I'm not on a no-fly list. I guess as long as there's not a no-sail list, I can still get to France where I've been told to go more than once or twice.
Get that passport in order.
....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
