The captured call to war

Yesterday, I made a short quip of a post being rather dismissive of a recently revealed call to al Qa'ida from an Iraqi insurgent. I found it a little too suspicious in both wording and timing.

Today, Billmon discusses the prize, and seems to have the same feeling about it.

Bottom line: I'm fairly convinced the letter is a forgery. This leaves the question, though, of who created it, and who might have the means, the motive and the opportunity to plant a fake CD in the hands of U.S. intelligence and/or a doctored hard copy of that CD in the hands of a New York Times reporter.
