Changes in Cuba

Office terms of high-ranking officials in Cuba should be limited to 10 years, Cuban President Raul Castro told the 6th Communist Party Congress which opened in Havana.

"We made a conclusion that it would be advisable to limit time of service for political and state positions to to two consecutive five-year terms," Castro said at the opening of the Party's Congress Saturday.

He said that by placing limits on the office terms the country would secure an inflow of new blood in the government.
