And Now Comes the Deluge: Or, The Audacity of Hope

And I do mean audacity. The absurd kind.

Fox News reports that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is signaling a willingness to accept the House version of the reauthorization [of the FAA funding bill], which includes the elimination of millions in subsidies for rural airline services.

"Sometimes you have to be reasonable, as we learned with this big deal we've just done," said Reid. "Sometimes you just have to step back and do what's best for the country and not be bound by your personal issues, and I'm willing to give that up, and I hope the other side will do the same."

You'd think he just met the other side.

They learn nothing. Either that, or they’re happy to finally have the cover to do what they really want but could never get past their constituents.

I think what the asshole meant to say was that he was willing to give up his personal desires for the good of the country. But, as often happens, the truth slipped out. What he actually has said here is that he's willing to give up doing what's best.

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
