From the Daily Star's article on the Organization of Islamic Conferences 10th summit, while Boy Blunder is off in the Orient stunning Congress with his remarks about aiding "Southeast Asia's most serious terrorist threat" (see previous entry):
Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad told fellow Muslim leaders Thursday that their rifts and "irrational" actions helped Jews to rule the world "by proxy," and urged them to use their "brains" and drop violent phenomena such as suicide bombings, which attract nothing but "more humiliation."
Echoing Mahathir's own concerns, [Russian President Vladimir] Putin said: "Terrorism must not be equated to any religion, culture, tradition or a way of life," drawing wide applause in the Putrajaya Convention Center that was filled to a capacity 5,000 delegates and media representatives.
I might have read that Putin remark as having a hint of zing toward the tactics of Boy Blunder and his pack of crusading avengers.
Hoshyar Zebari, the foreign minister in Iraq's hand-picked transitional Cabinet, said his delegation had withdrawn its request for a separate OIC document on Iraq that would recognize the interim administration and offer support for the US-led occupation. In return, other OIC members would withdraw a contentious draft resolution calling for a timetable for the end of the US-led occupation, he told The Daily Star.
Iyad Allawi, who is representing the Iraqi Governing Council at the summit, indicated that the Iraqis had come under pressure from the Americans to oppose the resolution, which also called for the United Nations to take the leading role in the country's reconstruction and transition to democracy.
Iraqi Governing Council under pressure from the Americans? I'm shocked. No, stunned. Apparently, if they're going to demand a timetable for ending the occupation and offer the U.N. a leading role, we don't need their recognition or their support after all.
We need the U.N. to back the invasion. No, actually, if the U.N. is going to drag its feet, we don't. We need the U.N. to help now that we got in over our head. No, actually, if the U.N. is going to insist on having a say in the decisions, we don't. We need OIC support. No, actually, never mind. We do. We don't. We do. We don't. Somebody keep score for me, please?
....oh hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
