Bob sends me a correction.
The company that Hagel is affiliated with is Election Systems & Software. The quote about delivering Ohio for Bush came from Walden O'Dell, chief executive of Diebold Inc., which is a different electronic voting machine company. There's a third company, Sierra Systems or something like that, which I believe is also Republican-controlled.
Thanks very much, Bob. (This is why I always offer links to anything I'm quoting - so that it can be verified.) Since that pretty much wipes out all I said about Chuck Hagel (and I called him a weasel), I guess I'll just have to delete that post where I attributed O'Dell's quote to the Senator from Nebraska. I thought about leaving it and just posting the correction there as well, but there's really nothing left of the post if I retract the misquote.
So, gone is the misquote, and here is Bob's rant on Chuck Hagel that got me started on poor old Chuck.
O'Dell is the one who claimed to do everything in his power to deliver the state of Ohio to Bush in '04, and since he owns election software that is currently under a good deal of scrutiny, his comment is very interesting, to say the least.
Hagel's election to the Senate also has a bit of a smell according to Thom Hartmann. Maybe it's the smell of a weasel. But I don't know.
