Condi on her own

Boris and Natasha are going to do a duet in front of the 9/11 Worthless Commission, but it looks like Miss Thing will be on her own.

She's scheduled to testify on Thursday, April 8. I will be en route to Caracas on that day, so unfortunately, I won't be able to watch her. If the commissioners are doing their job, they will most likely be asking her at some point about that September 11, 2001, speech she was supposed to give that got pre-empted by the WTC attacks. In it, she set out the administration's priorities and plans regarding national security. The speech, which was "outted" in the Washington Post, talks about long range missile defense and the threat of future war with Russia. It claims the Clinton administration was worrying about terrorist attacks when they should have been concerned with the bigger issue of rogue states attacking us with missiles. In her words, Clinton should have been concerned with "the threats and problems of today and the day after, not the world of yesterday". The speech never even mentions Usama bin Laden, al Qa'ida, or any other Islamic extremist group.

Apparently, no speech by any Bush official ever mentioned al Qa'ida prior to 9/11.
