Quick note...we went to the Chavez rally celebrating the people's return to power. Our guide has friends. We got ushered very close to the leading edge of the crowd, had a very fine vantage point, and no less than four of our members managed to secure spots in the press box! They assure us that they got great photos and will share them. If you've seen any photos of Chavez speaking to a sea of people packing an avenue near the palace, that's where we were. I couldn't make out much of what he was saying, but there were numerous mentions of the US and George W Bush, and I'm pretty sure none of them were flattering. Our very lovely guide, Alicia (who is also an accomplished documentary maker) said he first made it very clear that "we love the American people" - that he made a clear distinction between the people and the government. Wouldn't it be wonderful if Americans could do the same for the Iraqis?
Hey, look, I may not be able to find all the right keys for the punctuation on this keyboard, but I can ask questions in Spanish - punctuation-wise, at least. ¿See?
Hasta luego.
....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
