Speaking of failing state economies

Every state is having to find ways to cut their spending budgets - and most of them apparently are targeting education and social services, so surprisingly. But, among the other ways they are coming up with to save money, aside from charging for public defenders, some are pulling out of the Matrix. Georgia is the latest in the news.

MATRIX stands for Multistate Anti-Terrorism Information Exchange. (Looks to me like it should be called MATIE, but, whatever.) It is, you will recall, the brainchild of a company that sold the idea to Florida. The idea is that a private company maintains a database of all the information there is about you out there and supposedly permits access to it by law enforcement types only. Another private company beneficiary of the "war on terror". It's also related to the company (Choice Point) that helped Florida select Bush for president. You're just so surprised every day by these little revelations, aren't you?

Read about MATRIX here at Democracy Now.

....hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
