We're all bozos on this bus

Doubledumb campaigning in Ohio.

He rode his bullet-proofed, high-tech bus for only a bit more than an hour, but used it for maximum political effect. It rolled into towns as part of a motorcade, and Mr. Bush bounded down the steps without a jacket, drawing cheers when he mentioned his wife Laura, who did not accompany him today. ("Best reason to put me back in — she'll get four more years," he said at one stop).

Well, what a stupid thing to say, but actually, it just may be true. I can't think of any better reason.

He took a few tame questions at an "Ask the President" event that was filled with a largely invited audience.

Gee, an invited audience on a campaign tour? Why doesn't he save money and just stay at home. He can invite people to Washington, and they won't have to have heavily armed guards and helicopter escorts.

Never mind, I already know. He's got plenty of money to spend, and the publicity photos need some new backdrops. But then, come to think of it, they usually phony those up anyway.

President George W. Bush rode across Ohio on Tuesday in a bus emblazoned, "Yes, America can."

Turns out the bus was made in Canada.

So was the Real Deal Express that Democrat John Kerry rode earlier in the year.
