Business as usual

I don't know why they hate us: Part....whatever

Sabine Transportation Inc. of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, pleaded guilty to dumping 440 tons of wheat contaminated with diesel fuel [into the South China Sea five years ago]and agreed...to pay $2 million in penalties.  Environmental News Network article

They hired a Belgian crew to do it.

The indictment charged three Sabine executives, a marine superintendent, and two officers aboard the cargo ship Juneau with conspiracy to dump the grain, obstruct a Coast Guard investigation and defraud the federal government.

And you don't believe in conspiracies....

While the ship was unloading a humanitarian shipment of grain in Bangladesh, crew members discovered that diesel fuel had leaked into one of the ship's main cargo holds, contaminating the wheat.

The ship left Bangladesh with the bad wheat still on board. The company and ship's officers talked about disposing of it legally while the ship was in a Singapore dry dock, but decided it would be too expensive, prosecutors said.

A team of 15 Bulgarian nationals and several technicians were brought aboard to prepare for the ocean dumping....The investigation began when crew members told the Coast Guard about the leak when the Juneau docked in Portland, Oregon, at the end of the voyage.

...hey, do what you want....you will anyway
