Saddam's status and the trial to come

You will have to read that entire article to get the full flavor of all the double-speak and the subtleties of declaring the man to have one status or another. The only thing that is clear is that everything is being played as loosely as possible to keep options open and to be able to say in restrospect that whatever it is they did was justified.
