Speaking of hospitals

The Venezuelan government says it will militarize hospitals across the country if political conflicts threaten basic health services. Minister of Health (MSDS) Julio Cesar Useche has announced plans for units of the National Guard (GN) and the Army to be drafted in protect key installations and to protect life and limb against threats of sabotage from political extremists allied to the right-wing opposition fighting to remove reform President Hugo Chavez Frias from office.

Useche is blaming opposition politicians and activists for fabricating shortages of medicines and medical supplies at public hospitals ... he says that some public clinics have been turned into 'wholesalers for medicines and equipment' as corrupt municipal and hospital executives vie to sell surgical equipment and syringes for cash. Reports say that at some health centers, staff have been demanding cash for basic medicines that have been provided for free by international aid organizations and that cases of hospital pharmacies involved in the illegal sale of pills and potions have also been reported.

That doesn't sound good. I'm pretty rusty on revolution and overthrowing governments, though.

....so do what you want....you will anyway.

More on Venezuela, and how we're involved.
