Ohio joins Nebraska

Into the dark ages of Christianity....

From Mark Morford:

The Ohio Senate has approved one of the most far-reaching gay marriage bans in the nation despite charges from some lawmakers that the legislation was mean-spirited and discriminatory. A divided Senate approved the bill 18-15 Wednesday and sent it back to the House, which is expected to approve minor changes next week. Gov. Bob Taft has said he will sign the bill. The measure says same-sex marriages are "against the strong public policy of the state," which is translated by most sentient creatures to mean "we don't like none o' that kissy crap 'n stuff, specially when it don't include no cattle." Ohio will be only the second state, besides Nebraska, that would prohibit state employees from getting benefits for domestic partners, whether they were gay or unmarried heterosexual couples. Thankfully, much of the nation could only sigh and shrug as everyone pretty much understood that there is no real sadder and more miserable station in life than to wake up one day and realize you are a gay state employee from Ohio. "Do not, repeat, do NOT ask me how the hell I got into this miserable position," said one gay Ohio state employee, miserably. "Hey, it beats smashing my head with a brick over and over until I pass out," he added, sullenly. "But not by much."

There's something here about marriage and partnership and Ohio and Nebraska, but it's not coming to me at the moment.

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
