Rotten to the core

I'm so amazed at people who keep trying to weed out the corruption in our country. It's a lost cause. It is in every branch of government, every single agency.

Jan 16 - Several environmental groups yesterday sued the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for illegally taking policy direction from the pesticide industry. The suit, brought by non-profit public interest law firm Earthjustice on behalf of the groups, accuses the EPA of violating the Federal Advisory Committee Act, which prohibits government regulators from taking the advice of committees made up entirely of the industry being regulated.

Advisory groups are also required to make their meetings open to the public, yet the plaintiffs say records obtained under the Freedom of Information Act show that chemical industry representatives have met with the EPA behind closed doors and with no other parties present.

I don't want to discourage anybody. It's just that I wonder if it's really a good thing to wake people up to what's going on, or if they're not better off to stay ignorant. Because, they're just going to get really, really pissed off if they figure it out, and I want a bunker before that happens.

Or maybe a cave and a beach in the tropics.

Note to self: learn how to survive on a tropical island with no income.

Further note to self: learn how to sail a small boat.
