"The White House Office of Management and Budget is trying to gain final control over release of emergency declarations from the federal agencies responsible for public health, safety and the environment. The OMB also wants to manage scientific and technical evaluations ... of all major government rules, plans, proposed regulations and pronouncements." Well, like they've been doing such a great job. Of course, I don't want to see this power consolidated in one government cabinet office, but, hey I'm so totally jaded at this point that I think the real reason the various departments oppose the idea is that it takes power out of their hands, not that they are trying to protect the public.
I don't know...too jaded?
All you have to do to figure that one out is work for a state organization that is divided into departments - and pay attention.
....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
