MoveOn.org requests your help to defeat Dumbya

Dear MoveOn member,

Our $10 million MoveOn.org Voter Fund ad campaign to tell the truth about the Bush Administration will reach millions of viewers -- especially in the key states we're targeting. But we also want the messages of this campaign to reverberate deep in every community across the country.

To make that happen, we've decided to form a grassroots PR team to hold more than 200 simultaneous press conferences in every media market to launch our ads. Americans deserve the truth. And we feel that real people reaching out to their neighbors through local media is the best way to make sure the truth is heard.

We're asking you to submit your name for the team. This will be fun to work on. You'll be working with a small group of others in your area. And the whole project will only last a couple of weeks. Please apply by clicking here:

The following roles are available:

Spokespeople - to get in front of the cameras and microphones; do short interviews before, during and afterwards.
Coordinators - to handle all the logistical details of bringing the press conferences together.
Pitchers - to contact local reporters and get them to the press conference.
Problem solvers - to fix glitches and find solutions to daily problems of other volunteers.
Regional coordinators - to help us serve the huge number of volunteers who will be participating.

The press conferences will take place early in the second week of December. Participating means committing up to 10 hours of your time during the two weeks before the press conferences. We'll provide the best training and preparation that we can, but the PR teams will have to be highly self-directed and self-reliant.

We've learned so much through our experiences organizing the congressional lobbying meetings, the vigils and a small round of volunteer-driven press conferences held last January. We're hoping to use everything we learned to make this project a success. Please join us by clicking here:

For three years, the Bush administration has worked to build a false image for itself. They have bullied the media, distorted the facts, and cowed their political opponents. Through it all, we've worked together to expose the gap between Bush's carefully constructed image and his failed policies. That image is now falling apart under the weight of the accumulated evidence of the President's distortions.

Our ad campaign will have a tremendous impact. But the full potential will only be realized with the help of MoveOn members on the ground working to amplify the messages in their own communities.

Sincerely,

-- Zack Exley
