Progress in Iraq & Afghanistan

Monday 24 November 2003: An important gas pipeline has been blown up near Iraq’s northern oil centre of Kirkuk, causing a huge fire.

Saturday 11 October 2003: Two oil pipelines have burst into flames in northern Iraq after being hit by blasts on a day when two oil employees were also killed.

Monday 24 November 2003: At least five soldiers have been killed in a US military chopper crash [Sunday] in Afghanistan. A further seven were injured.

"The cause of the crash is unknown and under military investigation," US Central Command said in a statement, Reuters reported.

It said the troops aboard the downed helicopter were supporting Operation Mountain Resolve.

There are an awful lot of helicopters going down over there. Which military supplier is getting rich?

Operation Mountain Resolve. Operation Iron Hammer. Operation Ivy Serpent. Operation Ivy Cyclone.

Like these are surgical procedures. If they're going to make up stupid code names, the least they can do is give them a more appropriate title, like Hack Job Mountain Resolve. Hack Job Iron Hammer.....

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
