Shortly after the polls opened in Mississippi at 7 a.m., complaints of voting irregularities began to reach state officials in Jackson. A majority of the complaints were from predominantly black precincts in 17 counties, alleging that Republican poll watchers had followed voters into booths without their permission and videotaped the voting. article
