Lately the stories I've been reading have been loading Cheney up with guilt, talking about how independent and strong his offices have been in this administration, and how much of the drive to accept (and maybe even coerce) faulty or incomplete intelligence can be laid squarely with Cheney.
Even if he is being loaded up to be unloaded, I don't think it will wash over the long haul.
"It was my vice president who screwed this country into a hole. He told me what to do, and I trusted him. He was wrong. I'll choose a better one this time."
How's that sound?
