It is too depressing and outrageous - in the truest sense of that word - and indeed, I am so sickened and saddened and angered by the whole thing that I cannot find a joke or a sarcastic remark at the moment. The situation is much too serious for that anyway, I suppose, although the loss of humor might surely be the end of us.
So, momentarily at a loss for words, I am forwarding you to another's analysis - read Billmon's post on the ever-worsening nightmare that is the American occupation of Iraq.
