From Al Giordano on the money-laundering rumor:
Okay, it's "do the math" time at BigLeftOutside again! This quote is fascinating: "Limbaugh had taken between 30 and 40 cash withdrawals from his account in amounts just under $10,000." (And, see above, Limbaugh's own attorneys confirm that a "$9,900 or so" withdrawl - hand delivered to the radio studios atop the mythical so-called EIB Building, to Rush, by bankers - was not out of the ordinary.)
That's between $297,000 dollars and $396,000 dollars in loose cash.
Sorry, but that does vastly exceed any possible amount he could have spent on merely personal use of Hillbilly Heroin pills, or any drug, even in the black market, without having overdosed.
Something more was going on with Rush and all that cash. And, if he had nothing to hide, why did he group his cash withdrawls in amounts under the reportable ten grand threshold?
This is serious. It goes way beyond harmless-to-others drug consumption. Guess I'll have to listen to that gas bag again tomorrow to see whether he offers any spin. But I also guess that defense attorney Roy Black has bigmouth gagged on this one, because this ain't about drug use for personal consumption only. The numbers vastly exceed that possible explanation.
Paging D.A. Bob Morgenthau (in Manhattan, where one money laundering plea bargain just landed a guy in jail for one to three years)...
Rush's claim:
"I think the total amount of money they're talking about here comes to about $300,000 over five or six years which happen, you know, I mean it's a lot of money, but given the amount of money I earn and so forth, it's pretty much in proportion with, you know, what anybody else earns in terms of the percentage of walking-around money and cash that they use for things. The cash was in question here, most of it had to do with the two-and-a-half-year remodel we did for the home in Palm Beach."
That'd be "flying around money" in my neck of the woods.
Cash for remodeling a swank home? Who's he hiring?
....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
