CBS will change its name to RBS

So okay, there wasn't anything independent left of television anyway, but, Jesus H. Christ on a bicycle, is CBS really even considering letting the RNC dictate the content of their entertainment programs?

CBS is considering canceling or postponing its upcoming mini-series "The Reagans" under mounting Republican criticism that the production inaccurately depicts the former president and his wife, Daily Variety reported on Monday.

Also, the director of the four-hour TV movie, Robert Allan Ackerman, has quit the production over creative differences with CBS executives who have insisted on numerous last-minute alterations to the mini-series, the Hollywood trade paper said.

Depending on the nature of the final cuts, Ackerman may ask the Directors Guild of America to remove his name from the movie in protest, Variety said.

...But CBS Chairman Leslie Moonves acknowledged on CNBC last week that "there are some edits being made trying to present a more fair picture of the Reagans."

More fair or more to the RNC's liking?

The article also quotes Nancy Reagan as saying the timing of the program is "hurtful", and speculates that's because Reagan is seriously ill with Alzheimers. Something doesn't quite gel there - the program could be not hurtful if it were aired at another time? Maybe after Nancy is dead? Or is it Ronnie she's concerned about? Hell, he's 92 and has Alzheimers - I promise you, Nancy, he won't be hurt by it. And, if that's your concern, he doesn't have to watch it.

Oh, have some heart, you say. A little feeling. A little compassion. I do. And they can do what the rest of us have to do in life. If something someone says about us bothers us, we turn the other cheek (or sue the bastards). How much history or even current affairs that's published is hurtful in some way to somebody? All of it, perhaps?

At any rate, the timing is not the question - it's the content. And that's what is being objected to by the RNC. And should the RNC have any say over that?

They sure hate it when entertainers get in their turf. (Unless they're Rethuglican entertainers like Reagan and Derr Schwarzenegger.)

Anybody who has a nice island home somewhere far away from people that needs a caretaker, please send me the particulars via Dudley (in the sidebar).

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
