While I might not have couched it in the same tone and language as Al does (and then again, depending on my mood, I might have), I agree with him that the way to reform campaigning is to have equal free time on public airwaves for all candidates. As it stands now, time is sold to whomever can afford it. And it's expensive. Who is being served by this system? Corporate media, that's who. They get the money.
Not right.
It's the public's airwaves. The candidates are vying for public service positions. Same amount of time allotted each candidate on public broadcasting stations. No exceptions, no money exchanged. No time on commercial broadcasting stations.
Al argues also for a similar arrangement through the postal service.
Seems like a pretty simple solution to an obvious and universally agreed to be serious problem.
....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
