Oh God. Oh God. Oh God.

Staff members of an elementary school staged a fictitious gun attack on students during a class trip, telling them it was not a drill as the children cried and hid under tables.

The mock attack Thursday night was intended as a learning experience and lasted five minutes during the weeklong trip to a state park, said Scales Elementary School Assistant Principal Don Bartch, who led the trip.

During the last night of the trip, staff members convinced the 69 students that there was a gunman on the loose. They were told to lie on the floor or hide underneath tables and stay quiet. A teacher, disguised in a hooded sweat shirt, even pulled on a locked door.

After the lights went out, about 20 kids started to cry, 11-year-old Shay Naylor said.

“I was like, ‘Oh My God,’ “ she said. “At first I thought I was going to die. We flipped out.”

Principal Catherine Stephens declined to say whether the staff members involved would face disciplinary action, but said the situation “involved poor judgment.”

I don't think "poor" accurately describes what that judgment was. What's truly amazing is this wasn't just one idiot's lunatic plan - a group of adults charged with the care of 69 school children thought this was a good idea.

Who needs al Qaeda? We can just terrorize the kids ourselves and save them the trouble of getting here.

That's it. I'm putting down the keyboard and backing away. Circuit blown.

  1. I only have this to say, these so called teachers should thank GOD every night when they go to bed that one of the kids that they did this to was not my child!!!!!
Because they would be asking GOD to please end their life now so the pain would be over.
If these teachers realy wanted to help teach these kids something, then why in the hell did they not ask the right people if this was ok to do a thing like this and what might it do to these kids minds and what about the after affects on these kids,,, QUESTION is the school going to pay the DOCTOR bills for these kids screwed up mind.
If these teachers were going to do this atleast why didnt they have their parents there so when it was over the parents could talk to the kids and let them know it was just a training exercise.
BUT HELL NO THESE KIDS HAD TO GO TO BED ALONE AND THINK ABOUT THIS ALL NIGHT. As I said THANK GOD IT WAS NOT MY CHILD... And I am very sorrrrrrrrrrry it was anyones child. PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT WERER THESE PEOPLE THINKING??

  2. And this was on the Last day of the field trip. I wonder what happened along the rest of the week to build up to this.

  3. the first reports i read said they were offering "a learning experience", and later ones were saying it was just a traditional field trip prank with bad timing.

neither explanation helps their case, in my opinion.
