Venezuela

Shall we continue?

Let's see...where'd we leave off....prepare to invade liberate Venezuela.

Remember that we said Venezuela was being set up:

And, as I've been posting for you, the overtures have been coming on piece by piece to "take out" Chavez. It started with a failed assassination attempt, then came the articles about Venezuela supporting terrorists, then the accusations of election fraud and the illegal millions sent to help get rid of Chavez through a referendum. Now Chavez is busting Bush's chops in Mexico at the Americas Summit.

It's not going as smoothly as we'd like, however. Chavez thwarted the assassination attempt and busted the money smugglers.

Now, a judge has thrown out a case filed by a U.S. conservative group trying to tie him to al-Qa'ida...

The Associated Press (AP) is reporting from Miami that US District Judge James Lawrence King has dismissed a $100 million lawsuit filed against Venezuela, claiming that President Hugo Chavez Frias sent money to Osama bin Laden after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Washington-based conservative legal group, Judicial Watch had sued last January (2003) based on spurious allegations by former Venezuelan Presidential pilot Juan Ramon Diaz, who had been persuaded to defect to the United States.

US and international media had parroted Diaz' disinformation which lacked all and any form of substantiation.

But this article appearing on the Venezuelan online publication VHeadline.com, indicates that the clock is still ticking...

Venezuelanalysis.com is reporting that a group of Venezuelan ex-military officers, opposed to the democratically-elected government of President Hugo Chavez Frias, has openly called for the intervention of the US Army to stop the process of change to participative democracy in Venezuela.

On Miami Channel 22, in a television program hosted by Maria Elvira Salazar, Venezuelan rebel officer Luis Pina was asked if he would agree with a military invention in Venezuela by the United States and if he would like to see the US Marines walking on his native Venezuelan territory with the intention of overthrowing President Hugo Chavez Frias.

Pina, a retired sergeant representing the anti-Chavez Todos por Venezuela (All for Venezuela) organization, responded saying that he would agree with such action by the US military ... “along with 80% of Venezuelans who are hoping for that US intervention to happen.”
Later in the Descalzi Vs. Brown program, broadcast on the same television channel, Venezuelan Air Force (FAV) Colonel (ret.) Silvino Bustillos also expressed his desire to see his native country invaded by US troops and also asked for United Nations forces to intervene.

Bustillos was one of the principal actors in the April 2002 coup d’etat which saw the 2-day dictatorship of Pedro Carmona Estanga ... Bustillos, Carmona and other coup participants today enjoy their freedom in exile abroad after eluding Venezuelan justice for their crimes.

The broadcast comments give added credence to recent intelligence reports that indicate the possibility of a US invasion of sovereign Venezuelan territory ... and that it appears to be the aim of a significant percentage of anti-democratic forces in Venezuela that oppose the incumbent President.

...Statements out of Washington D.C. have already confirmed that rebel military officers and opposition leaders have been engaged in a series of "conversations" with Bush 2 administration officials although US State Department officials appear to be in quite a hurry to brush-off any importance given to the meetings claiming that they were routine and informational.

Emphasis mine.

And keep this in mind when you think of any number of South American dictators who are ousted...

The United States has so far refused to acknowledge Venezuela's proper request for the extradition of anti-government military rebels German Rodolfo Varela and Jose Antonio Colina, charged in connection with the terrorist attacks to the Embassy of Spain and the Consulate of Colombia in Caracas, on February 26, 2003 ... on December 20, they requested political asylum in Miami.

...they always seem to come under Jeb's wing.

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
