Religiosity

I couldn't get this comment posted at Digby's place because it's longer than 1,000 words. So, go read Digby's post and the comments thereto.

Then, here's my comment:

"They have their bloc of extremely conservative Christians, but we have no hope of getting those votes even if we have Kerry wear a crown of thorns and flay himself on Meet The Press."

Are you sure? Sounds like it might be worth a try.

If Kerry starts putting god into his political campaign, I am definitely not voting for him. I'll wager my vote on Bush being impeached. I'm already far from convinced to vote for Kerry as it is.

Of course there's no need for religion to be moral and humane, as has been pointed out. And of course the morals and inhumanity of the war mongering "religious" right (and left) are a shameful disgrace to anyone who actually follows the precepts of Christianity.

And whatever happened to "render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and unto God that which is God's"? That pretty well separates church and state, doesn't it?

Face it. The Democrat party has changed. Fell prey to and allowed itself to be blackmailed into the situation. Oh, if we stand up against invading Iraq, we'll be called unpatriotic! Oh, if we refuse to let religion be an issue in our political campaigns, we won't get the votes of people who obviously have never read the goddamned Bill of Rights!

But, we're supposed to be in a democracy, and if the majority of people want a theocracy, then that's where we'll go as a nation.

And i'll be moving to Denmark.

....but hey, you do what you want....you will anyway.
