Footnote news

Apparently.

This AP report telling of soldiers being charged in the drowning of an Iraqi man mentions in the last paragraphs that the soldiers who suffocated an Iraqi prisoner were sentenced: a reprimand and banned from any further interrogations.

I'm sure that answers Butt Plug's assurance to the Iraqi people that justice would be served in the Abu Ghraib crimes. You think they'll see it that way?

When the story was told of the boy who was forced off the bridge, many bloggers and commenters refused to even believe it.

Now read the letter from Zayud's family begging the U.S. to investigate the incident when two boys' car broke down and curfew passed, posted January 8, 2004, on the boy's cousin's website.

Excerpt:

An American army patrol stood in their way, and after they went through the whole procedure of searching my son and his cousin, and inspecting the cargo load, they tied them up both and led them to an area about three kilometres from the scene and...in front of one of the gates of the Tharthar dam where water flows at its strongest rate and to my son and his cousin's horror, they ordered them to jump into the water, it was midnight and the cold was unbearable, when they hesitated, they were pushed by the soldiers. Unfortunately my boy cannot swim...

I wonder if those soldiers will get a reprimand.

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
