New Worst Saudi Bad Guy

The very suspicious (to me and my fellow tin-foil comrades) incident where Worst Saudi Bad Guy Muqrin and two of his crew were killed, not captured, immediately after the beheading of Paul Johnson, has promoted an ex-Saudi police officer to the position of Worst Saudi Bad Guy.

Saleh al-Oufi, 38, will take over from Abdul Aziz al-Muqrin, who was killed by police on Friday.

...Saudi analysts say the new leader will be a formidable foe as he been a key figure in the group since 1985.

...Correspondents say the rise of Mr Oufi will do nothing to dispel suspicions that al-Qaeda is closely linked to members of the security forces in Saudi Arabia.

...[A] pro-militant website has claimed police sympathisers provided uniforms and cars used during Paul Johnson's kidnapping.

...Saudi analysts say his experience and origins will make him a more effective leader than Muqrin was.

"Saleh al-Oufi is the most dangerous" of the Al-Qaeda lieutenants left alive in Saudi Arabia, says a report in al-Hayat newspaper.

He is reported to have met al-Qaeda founder Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan shortly before the 11 September 2001 attacks on the United States.

Doesn't at least some of that make you wonder? If nothing else, it casts some suspicion on whether the Saudi authorities are going to be much help in combatting terrorism in the country. Maybe it says there's a "link" between Saudi Arabia and Osama? Maybe it even says that we can give up on Iraq and move into Saudi Arabia's oil fields where Herr Busch already has his own links to the royal family (and the bin Ladens).

Okay, maybe it doesn't say all those things. Maybe. But for another thing, there's still that unexplained business about American officials ordering Saudis to let some of the Khobar massacre perpetrators escape.

And while we're on the subject of the tin-foil brigade, I heard a joke yesterday about how low the CIA's reputation has dived since the 9/11 intelligence failures....so bad that kooks have quit wearing their tin-foil shields.

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
