Someone in Washington proposes cooperation instead of threat, force or pre-emption

And it's a Republican!

Illinois Republican Congressman Gerald Weller believes that the relations between Venezuela and the US “have been difficult at times, but we both know that it would serve us better if we worked together. And working together, we all benefit.”
  VHeadline article

Congressman Weller acknowledged that Venezuela has always been a reliable supplier of oil, and that it only takes 5 days to get oil from Venezuela to the U.S. as opposed to the 40 days from the Mid-East.

I don't know if he also mentioned it, but Venezuela under Chávez has also always paid its international debts promptly.

Kerry and Bush need to take a lesson from Mr. Weller.
