NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 1, 2004, as Loyalty Day. I call upon all the people of the United States to join in support of this national observance. I also call upon government officials to display the flag of the United States on all government buildings on Loyalty Day.

Now, I could have sworn that he had already signed this same thing - so I'll have to do some searching to find out what other fascist day observance we're supposed to be waving our flags on.
And, just what is the deal here, co-opting the fairly universal workers' union celebratory day of May 1, huh? (I was already a bit annoyed at that, considering the day originally celebrated the Goddess.)
Every year, the ruling classes around the world are again reminded of their vulnerability and of the power of their gravediggers. On May 1, the world working class displays its strength in demonstrations and strikes. May Day - International Workers' Day - is a reminder to the ruling classes that their days are numbered.
How did May 1 become a day recognized around the world as a working class holiday, a day of solidarity between workers of all nationalities? Why do the captains of finance and industry still fear the celebration of May Day?
May Day was born from the struggle for the eight-hour day. That struggle, in turn, emerged as part and parcel of the working class itself.

Gitcher flags out or gitcher commie traitor label on, ya hear?
Okay....here it is....it was Loyalty Day 2003 - I guess it had to be redeclared, and just in case the next president didn't think it was necessary, DoubleAss has this time declared it a yearly thing.
Now I may have to do a search to find out more about this:
Last September, I announced several initiatives that will help improve students' knowledge of American history, increase their civic involvement, and deepen their love for our great country.
And I'll bet none of those initiatives improve their knowledge of the Military and CIA involvement in overthrowing other democratic governments, assassinating political leaders and drug trafficking.
Let's have students read Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States and knock off this bullshit propaganda about waving your flag and being loyal to an imperial, fascist regime. And give them ways to increase their civic involvement that will actually reshape their country into a true democracy. How about that?
How much American history do you think the Oaf of Office knows?
