Was it or wasn't it Zarqawi?

Who is responsible for the recent temple bombings in Iraq?

There seems to be some question about whether the U.S. claim that it was Abu Musab Zarqawi is true. And even whether Zarqawi is alive.

Juan Cole has some analysis.

I would think that, if the U.S. knows this wasn't Zarqawi's work, it is rather idiotic to make the claim, since he is the terrorist the White House blocked the Pentagon from going after, because it would hurt their case for invading Iraq.

Of course, these crack clowns in the White House are apt to say anything at any time. Whatever works for the moment. It's impossible to figure what they're doing if you resort to reason.

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
