The Unfortunate Mr. Obama

The number of people in the U.S. who are in poverty is on track for a record increase on President Barack Obama's watch.

It's unfortunate timing for Obama and his party just seven weeks before important elections when control of Congress is at stake.

Yes, how “unfortunate.” Unfortunate for Democratic politicians; who cares about the poverty-stricken people in this scenario? The poor are just a statistic for political power.

And there's another unfortunate thing about this for Mr. Obama: the first black president of the U.S. will preside over the highest poverty. I can only imagine the “lessons” voters will take away from that.

But then, it’s not really the voters who put a man in office, is it? So, not to worry – corporations have gotten big boosts on Obama’s watch…bailouts and the right to buy elections without hiding their contributions.

And as for the unfortunate aspect of poverty, it's true. The fortune involved all belongs to the purveyors of foreign wars. Mr. Obama need not be concerned about his.
