I take back what I said about Obama not bringing about change in Washington. He changed the Democratic Party from an ineffectual bunch of timid corporate slaves into the conservative center wing of the Republican Party, very willing corporate slaves.
Glenn Greenwald today posts on several issues come to light:
1) A number of conservative politicians are leaving off their opposition to or outright supporting gay marriage, while the leader of the Democratic Party, Barack Obama, publicly opposes it.
2) Democrat Diane Feinstein is working to defeat Proposition 19 in California which would legalize marijuana use, thereby throwing her weight behind continued serious drug cartel crime.
3) Latinos who could once be counted on to vote Democratic have been pushed away from the party by its current failings and in particular the White House's broken promise for positive immigration reform.
4) "Obama's Deficit Commission was structured so as to ensure recommendations for, among other things, cuts in Social Security benefits, to be voted on right after the election is nice and over with (an election the Democrats are trying to win by parading around as the protectors of Social Security)."
5) A new book is out telling how Rahm Emanuel, the WH Chief of Staff, has worked against unions and "declared, in the midst of the auto bailouts: 'Fuck the UAW.'"
What's the point in voting any more? Why don't they just tell us who's going to be at the top? Oh, I suppose in a way they will.
....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
