"I am opposed to any effort to impose Sharia in the United States, and we should have a federal law that says under no circumstances in any jurisdiction in the United States will Sharia be used, in any court, to apply to any judgment made about American law,"Gingrich said to loud applause.
Now, Newt Gingrich is not a stupid man. His crazy is "crazy like a fox," as the saying goes. The real crazy here is the audience. I mean, really, is there even a snowball's chance in hell that judges are going to use Muslim law to adjudicate cases in American courts? The more likely scenario would be that they use Christian law (of the Old Testament variety, of course), and therefore, I could possibly take seriously a proposal to have a law saying that Christian law cannot be used in court. Of course Newt knows that any talk about banning anything Muslim these days is a sure bet to get the support of the brainless bigoted idiots coming out of the woodwork begging someone to lead them even further into Hell than the leaders they already have had. And perhaps that is what we are not taking nearly seriously enough.
....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
