Better Said

…so let’s bring out some of that ol’ Obama inspirational magic: “So let us reach for the world that ought to be — that spark of the divine that still stirs within each of our souls. Somewhere today, in the here and now, a soldier sees he’s outgunned but stands firm to keep the peace. Somewhere today, in this world, a young protestor awaits the brutality of her government, but has the courage to march on. Somewhere today, a mother facing punishing poverty still takes the time to teach her child, who believes that a cruel world still has a place for his dreams.”

And then the soldier who sees he’s outgunned calls in an air strike and blows her and her child to pieces.

Exactly, exactly.I wrote a post over at MadMikes about an injured little girl I'd seen a picture of during Shock and Awe,how it stayed with me.How it must feel to be attacked and know there is nothing and no one to save you.Your own military can't help or avenge you.
We bomb and blow people up,divide and rule to get them to blow each other up,and treat the war(s) as just another issue like taxes or gay marriage or healthcare reform.
It's why I supported Ron Paul. His economic plan is pretty much to go back to the 19th century and I'm so he considers Single Payer supporters communists but-he opposed both wars and wanted them to end immediately.
The obscenity of women and kids dying,to me,surpasses all the other concerns.
Excuse the rant, can't help myself.Your post was brief but powerful, you got it exactly right.

  2. It can't be better said, than the way he says it. It could be better done than the way he's doing it, of course.

  3. yes, wiiiai always hits the nail on the head in ironic and humorous ways.

i like ron paul, too. he's my district's representative, which has nothing to do with it. and i don't agree with everything, because i'm much more socialist minded than he. but he always sounds like a reasonable, reasoning man, who has actually thought about things and the consequences of them. and he's always a war opponent. which is why he'll never have a national voice.
