Don't Forget Poland

Poland is demanding greater voting rights in EU councils [...] Poland says it deserves votes proportional to the population it claims it would have had if not for World War II (66 million versus its actual 38 million), although it is proposing voting being weighted according to the... wait for it... square root of a country’s population.

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.

  1. Maybe the EU ought to give the Poles a homeland of their own in the Middle East. Anbar province, say (capitol Fallujaw). That worked out so well before.

The square root thing? Finally somebody came up with something less democratic than the electoral college! Whereas currently a Wyoming scumbag like Dick Cheney has four times the electoral voting power of a Californian scumbag like Ahnold, the square-root scheme would make it 8.5 times as large. Expect lots of support from Luxembourg, Lichtenstein, San Marino, etc.

And why not postulate, instead of WWII never happening, that Poland WON it? They kicked Hitler's ass, then turned around and wiped out the Soviet Union. The 2007 population of Greater Poland is projected to be 2.9 billion. Not so interested in that square root thing now, are you Poland??
