Terrorist Plot in the US!

Today's headline news: Attempt to blow up JFK airport and neighboring residential areas foiled.

Yahoo News: Feds foil JFK terror plot, arrest 3
Seattle PI: Authorities charge 4 in JFK terror plot
ABC: Authorities Charge 4 in JFK Terror Plot
Washington Times: 3 arrested, 1 sought in JFK terror plot
Sidney Morning Hearld: FBI foils New York airport plot
Reuters: Four arrested in plot on JFK airport

"The devastation that would be caused had this plot succeeded is just unthinkable," U.S. Attorney Roslynn R. Mauskopf said at a news conference, calling it "one of the most chilling plots imaginable."

In an indictment charging the four men, one of them is quoted as saying the foiled plot would "cause greater destruction than in the Sept. 11 attacks," destroying the airport, killing several thousand people and destroying parts of New York's borough of Queens, where the line runs underground.

Oh my God! "Unthinkable!" "Chilling!"

Except, it seems that the would-be terrorists had purchased neither weapons nor explosives. And an FBI agent had infiltrated the group from its inception.

In other words (to use a favorite Bush phrase), there really was no threat. Just an idea in some guys' heads, having originated with a JFK ex-employee, Russell Defreitas, a U.S. citizen, some ten years ago (pre-9/11) and he no longer had the necessary current airport information to carry out such an idea. Perhaps even put there or aided by the FBI agent, like last month's Fort Dix dicks.

In other words, stop paying attention to those expanding and worsening attorney purge investigations.

Despite the lack of a real threat, "JFK and the area's other airports remained at a heightened state of alert Saturday."

God, but we're simpletons.

Normally we would be free from these terrorism alerts until a little closer to election time, but the DoJ scandals have made it necessary to pull some rabbits out of some hats earlier.

And, by the way, we also must be considered stupid enough to not think the idea that there are terrorists plotting in our country right now conflicts with the idea that we have to stay in Iraq to fight them so we don't have to do it over here.

Kee-rist.

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
