Prisoner "abuse"

Let's see, we have the photographic evidence from Abu Ghraib. We now have information that at least three men died "after being interrogated by the CIA". We have information that detainees at other camps in Iraq have been subjected to similar humiliations, beating and torture.

But, General Abizaid says there is no "pattern of abuse of prisoners in the Central Command area of operation."

Perhaps it depends on your definition of "pattern". Or "abuse".

He also says that we shouldn't let Abu Ghraib distract us from putting down the insurgency in Iraq.

And Numnutz Sanchez echoes with more military jingo.

"The honor and value systems of our armed forces are solid and the bedrock of what makes us the best in the world," Sanchez said. "There has been no catastrophic failure, and America's armed forces will never compromise their honor."

Could it be just a little late on that count? Or maybe you can't compromise what you don't have.

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
