Dear Editor

I've just checked into Jesus' General's blog, and find that he asked readers to help out that Wisconsin newspaper that was soliciting pro-Bush letters to the editor.

He starts us off with one of his own.

Dear Editor,

I support George W. Bush's visionary plan to turn the Middle East into one large terrorist incubator. His daily efforts to fuel that region's hatred of Americans has been wildly successful. Thanks to the President's bold leadership, there are now more American-hating terrorists on the loose than at any other time in our history.

Eventually, every single resident of the Middle East who could possibly become a terrorist, will be one. Then, it's just a matter of time until we round them all up and end the threat of terrorism once and for all.

These are some of my favorites submitted by the General's readers:

George W. Bush is great president. Only three top administration officials have resigned and written books about him being a terrible president. He has never lied about sex - only about reasons for going to war and other trivial matters. On June 30 the violence in Iraq will magically disappear. What will the liberal media complain about then? Bush is close to mastering the English language. He will surely capture Osama Bin Laden one of these days. He has bravely tried to protect us from the 9/11 Commission and the homosexuals. He did such a great job of cutting taxes that the government is now borrowing hundreds of billions per year. If the liberals were in charge Saddam's rape rooms would still be Saddam's rape rooms - now they are our rape rooms. No liberal communist al Qaeda sympathizer would have had the courage to claim that Saddam had WMDs and ties to 9/11 without any proof. But Bush did. And Bush maintains that the war in Iraq was a good idea despite it costing over 700 American lives and hundreds of billions of dollars because he is not a flip-flopper. He only flip-flopped on his support for steel tariffs, the Dept. of Homeland Security, the 9/11 Commission, and whether Bin Laden was the greatest threat to America. No one could do a better job than Bush.

Editor:

Paul Krugman once said "If [George W.] Bush said the earth was flat, the reports in the mainstream media would say, 'Shape of the Earth: Views Differ." Just because there are two different viewpoints on a given issue, it doesn't necessarily follow that both viewpoints have equal merit, or are held by equal numbers of people.

If you are receiving more letters critical of Bush than supportive, the reason may be that Bush has more critics than supporters among your readership. Alternatively, those of your readers who support Bush may be understandably embarrassed to associate their names with their ill-considered point of view. Also, Bush supporters probably find it difficult to coherently articulate reasons for their support.

America is clearly better off than it was under that philandering draft-dodger, Bill Clinton. Jobs and the well-being of family farms may seem important to the people of Wisconsin, but only if one fails to embrace the new realities of the 21st Century. America's primary export in the new world is force. Your children will only suffer as you are suffering now if you ask them to take over the family's dairy farm. There are opportunities galore for them in the armies of occupation of the Bush Century that unfolds at our feet. Certainly some large corporation will offer you a fair price for your farm and then run it more efficiently and cheaply than you ever could.

Editors,

I think it's wonderful that you've decided to throw objectivity to the wind and solicit positive Letters to the Editor about our President.

Here's my two cents: Bush has done a great job of helping the rich become obscenely rich.

For future solicitations, I'd like to suggest that you ask readers to send their opinions as to whether John Kerry still beats his dog.

Thanks,

David Balluff
