And speaking of Zimbabwe and Equatorial Guinea....

...and Spain.

Zimbabwe's Home Affairs Minister says one of the men arrested (Simon Mann) in what is believed to be a coup plot, is giving up the information. I suspect they know how to get information out of you in Zimbabwe. Whether it's true or not, I suppose we can't say at this point. But the information he has provided is quite detailed. And he says that the coup was being sponsored by British MI6, American CIA, and Spanish secret service.

"The western intelligence services persuaded the Equatorial Guinea service chiefs, that is the head of the police force and the commander of the army, not to put up any resistance, but to cooperate with the coup plotters," he said.

Minister Mohadi said the two men had been promised cabinet posts in the new government, which was apparently due to be headed by opposition activist Severo Moto Nsa, who is in exile in Spain, and who tried to mount a coup against Obiang in 1997 from Angola.

The minister said Mann had been hired by Moto in November and promised one million pounds sterling (1.8 million dollars / 1.5 million euros) and oil mining rights in Equatorial Guinea.

Yes, Equatorial Guinea has our oil. Just recently discovered, in fact. 2002. Bunches of it.

And Josh Marshall did some digging on the U.S. company that says they sold the plane that was used, and have nothing to do with any of it. He has some questions.
