As a follow-up to my comments on Jessica Lynch's story, I found this on TalkLeft today:
"I came upon this page by accident, however I read some of the comments and therefore am compelled to respond. I was a member of the G2/G3 staff that planned the ops for the Lynch mission.
...The actual operation was not only staged, it was reheased like a stage show, complete with two videographers, a primary and a backup.
...According to what we were told by psyops, the fake, or staged, operation had a nice basis of truth and that the embellishment would be used as propaganda against the Iraqis. Unfortunately it was used against Americans to bolster support for the war.
...I was NOT on the raid, just the planning."
If the Army were telling the truth about Jessica being in a terrible situation with rapist, terrorist captors, then they left her there exposed to torment and torture while they planned and rehearsed her filmed rescue.
Bogus.
This person's account is most likely exactly what happened. After all, video crews surely are "not normally standard equipment on choppers or special ops raids".
This guy or gal better be careful.
And Miss Jessica has gotten some excellent advice on how to play it. She's no doubt been "advised" by the army, and whoever has told her to make some general statements about the spin on her rescue has assured her of the sympathy she'll need to avoid being cast as part of the scheme.
B.S. on the whole lot of them, Jessica included. If she didn't realize at the time what was happening, she knew shortly thereafter - after all, she was conscious when they came to get her. And she most definitely knows now. But rather than blowing the whistle or refusing to play into the game, she is making the most of it. I guess you can't blame her for that. It's a better living than she ever would have made as a soldier.
And, it's the American way.
....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
