US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta has said that his country will act "uniterally" to confront what he said were Iranian threats to US interests in Iraq.Speaking during his first visit to Baghdad since taking office on July 1, Panetta said on Monday that the US was "very concerned about Iran and the weapons they are providing to extremists here in Iraq".
I just posted a Justin Raimondo article laying out the strategy to take Pakistan in order to surround Iran, the “prize jewel.”
Staying in Iraq would be one facet of that plan.
I really don’t have the confidence in our ability to handle the Middle East that apparently our Commander in Chief and his Warlords do. I simply don’t think it’s a matter of the amount of arms we float. Not even if we float enough of them to bankrupt us. That’s a seriously volatile area, and no one there can be counted on to remain loyal, even if you pay them. And what if we did get an unstable hold on the area? What do we do about Africa? Frankly, I don’t think we can rule the world. Not by force anyway. And we don’t have enough money. I don’t think it’s possible. We are simply going to be responsible for creating a worldwide battle zone. From outer space the planet is going to look like Linus’ debris cloud.
I am loathe to believe either George W or Obama actually intended to destroy the US, even though that is exactly what they have both been going about doing, because neither one of them is truly that cleverly diabolical. They are both too arrogant to think beyond their own self-aggrandizement and self-image. So is the inevitable destruction simply a matter of them spending too much time gazing fondly and posing in front of their mirrors and not tending to business (Nero had a fiddle, these guys have mirrors), or is there really somebody pulling the strings to make it happen? To quote Mark Twain: Sometimes I wonder if the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it.
....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
