More conflicting stories about the Iraq Thanksgiving photo-op.
Earlier, you will recall, the conflict was whether the pResident thought up the idea on a trip to Asia, and who had been told and who hadn't. Now, it appears that the story is changing again. I bet you're surprised.
It was White House chief of staff Andrew Card who first proposed the surprise trip -- not the president.
"Andy (Card), as he often does, said (to Bush) almost in passing: 'Thanksgiving's coming up. Where do you want to go? You want to go to Baghdad?"' Rice recalled, and the planning got under way. article
I did wonder about that comment of his that he was "the biggest skeptic of them all" coming out at the same time the reports were claiming he'd had this grand idea back in October.
It's pretty darned obvious that this was an election-timed scheme and preemption of Hillary Clinton's visit. To anybody but Fox-News-Tube-Boobies.
....but hey, believe what you want....you will anyway.
