Operation Ivy Blizzard "inconvenienced a number of citizens"

Collective punishment.

A report from an Arab source on Operation Ivy Blizzard tells of the masked, or hooded, Iraqis used to finger suspected insurgents, and of the drastic and dastardly tactics used to rout out "insurgents" - or, as this account claims, to punish Samarra for being "a thorn in the side" of the military. As the U.S. commander said of the "Operation", it was designed to bring Samarra along to speed with other more cooperative cities.

You really must read the account. And then you will be proud to be an American supporting our troops.

It's probably all lies...after all it's an Arab source.

Washington Post, December 17: "Samarra has been a little bit of a thorn in our side," said Col. Nate Sassaman. "It hasn't come along as quickly as other cities in the rebuilding of Iraq. This operation is designed to bring them up to speed."

"No one knows the town better than we do, we're gonna clean this place. They've made a mistake to attack U.S. forces. We will dominate Samarra," he said.

Okay, maybe not.

....but hey, you sorry excuse for a human being, do what you want....you will anyway.
