Joe Vialls doesn't even believe the Saddam we have is actually Saddam

I do. Maybe I'm gullible.

But, Joe provides an interesting visual to give us a picture of just how surrounded our troops are over there. Aside from a massive airlift to get them out, they might be forced to retreat back through Kuwait. You may have been reading some analyses that say capturing Saddam could backfire in the form of a Shi'ite uprising, since they would no longer fear retribution from Saddam.

Joe says that the Shi'ites were duped by the CIA back in the first Gulf War into getting themselves slaughtered by Saddam Hussein, leaving them in fear of Saddam and with a deep hatred of the U.S.

The only thing stopping southern Iraqi Shi’ites from killing the American invaders, was fear that when the U.S. was eventually driven out of Iraq, Saddam would again crush them as he did back in 1991. But by “Capturing Saddam” the Americans have removed that fear, thus inviting Moqtada al-Sadr to open a southern front against the invaders.

He also says that the one hope Americans have now is to let Saddam (or in Joe's view, "whatshisname") escape.

On their current track record the Hollywood producers of the exciting docu-drama “Spider Hole in Tikrit” should be able to manage this with ease, and the new film might have the effect of inhibiting the Shi’ites all over again, thereby possibly delaying or stopping the upcoming and very unpleasant 2003 rerun of the 1968 Tet Offensive.

I think another option whether it's whatshisname or actually Saddam, who would have only embarrassing things to say if put on trial, is to have him turn up dead. I had mentioned early on that he could meet his own Jack Ruby. Nell - excuse me, it was Dudley this time (sidebar) - recently forwarded a letter from a YWA reader who did a nice little photo-shop rendention of that, having had the same idea when hearing about "the capture":

Thanks, Rev

P.S. Joe also provided the analysis that the bodies offered as Saddam's dead sons were not really Saddam's dead sons. I don't quite know what to make of Joe. I tend to agree with his dead sons' analysis, but he's the same one who attempted to debunk a double murder in England that has recently been tried, finding the accused guilty with some pretty damning evidence. Who knows? But Joe always has something to say. I take it like I do everything - file in for further consideration in light of other and future evidence.

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
